Bedroom Rug

Locating the perfect bedroom rug can be challenging. In deciding on the type of rug that you want for your bedroom, you will have the option of choosing between sizes, colors, patterns, thickness, and placement. Although these choices might sound overwhelming at first, finding the right rug can also be a lot of fun, too.

When choosing a bedroom rug, it?s important to keep your space and your furniture in mind. Although beautiful Persian rugs can be an asset to nearly any room in the house, in bedrooms their patterns can often get lost under the bed and dressers and therefore you might not get the same effect from them that you would have in the living room.

Instead, when it comes to the bedroom, a lot of people like to focus on solid or evenly patterned rugs that do not rely on any particular design. That way, even if large furniture items cover the rugs, none of the design is actually getting lost.

If you have hardwood or tile floors, using an area rug or even multiple area rugs can be a good way of covering parts of your floor without covering the entire thing. Some people like area rugs, particularly if they have beautiful hardwood floors that they don?t want to cover completely. A large area rug can be placed in the middle of the floor for good coverage, while smaller bedroom area rugs can be placed sporadically throughout the room in places where you need it most.

For instance, some people like to put small area rugs beside their beds so that on cold winter mornings their feet hit something soft and warm, instead of cold, hardwood or tile. Using several smaller area rugs can be cheaper than purchasing wall to wall carpeting.

Keep your other furnishings in mind when choosing colors. Luckily, there are a variety of rug colors and patterns available so you shouldn?t have any difficulty finding something that complements your curtains, bedspread, and the general design of your bedroom. If you do have trouble matching the colors, then consider something neutral, such as beige, cream or even gray. This can also be a good option if you decide to change the look of your bedroom on down the line.

You should also keep in mind that light colored rugs tend to make a room look larger while darker colors can make it look cozier.

Although your bedroom might not be as heavily trafficked as your living room or dining room, you should still keep your fabric in mind when choosing your rug. Wool is almost always a good choice since it resists daily wear well. It doesn?t require a lot of care and it typically has rich color tones.

Before deciding on a rug for your bedroom, try to get a sample and walk on it in your bare feet. This will help you determine whether or not the fabric is something that you would like to feel first thing in the morning. Although it might look good, coarse material might not feel very nice.

Remember that rugs for rooms designed for children and babies might have different requirements than for those rooms that are meant for adults. More emphasis will probably be spent on bright colors and designs, although attention will still be given to the overall effect of the room.
